Do they come with a tootsie roll or bubble gum center? I vote for tootsie roll centers.

I have not been pain free sence 1986. and I don't expect to get rid of all the pain just enought to make life a little more tolerable.

    Cool

Azkikn-You shouldn't have to settle for reduced pain! While it will make you happy, remember to always fight for what we deserve--NO PAIN. I have found that if you settle with what you are getting, if you decide you need more later it is always harder, which will lead me to my next post...

I just spoke to my PCP and he wants to try the fentanyl duragesic patch on me for my migraines. I get very severe ones when the weather is going to change. I'm a walking barometer!

I've been taking pain pills for years and frankly I'm sick of them. He said it would also help me with my joint pain that I have.

God, I sound old. I'm too young to be old.

I also ware the patch but I have break through pain when I use my arms. It works great when I just sit around and do nothing but can't get the break through pain to stop. How do I tell me doctor about this so he will listen to me?

    Kari,
I am not on the patch any longer. I am on oxycodone/oxycotin now which are working a lot better. I had a problem with the patch itching and irritating my skin. It did not work as well as the oxycodone for break through and oxycotin for maintenance.
Pain does the same with me so I try to sit or lay down. Trying to stay in comfortable positions I am better than if I try to do anything. Doing anything physical causes pain and can put me in bed for a couple days at a time.
There is nothing you can do to stop that pain if you are going to get it with any activity. Having something would help.
You should be on the patch and something else for break though pain. People usually have the patch for pain control maintenance and another prescription for something for break though.

All you have to do is tell your Doctor the truth. That you can not do any activities without creating more intense pain to yourself and that you need something for break through. If he is a caring and understanding Doctor, understands pain, and knows you are truthful and sincere he should help you.
I wish you the best of luck and please keep in touch. Let us know how you are doing and how everything turns out.

Best of luck and God Bless,
    Az-kikn
