Question about micrograms

I just had a curiosity itch I need scratched. I've noticed some medication such as fentanyl and bupenoraphine<-sp? Come in mcg. I've heard some people say for example 75 mcg eguals .075mg an hour and I've heard 7.5mg an hour. Which is it?

To my knowledge is whatever the patch is per hour..

So a 12mcg patch is 12 MICROgrams per hour.
25mcg patch is 25 MICROgrams per hour.

I don't see why you would need to know how many milligrams per hour for the patch as it is dosed in micrograms.?

But the conversion is 1 microgram is equal to 0.001 milligram.

Re: Question about micrograms

1000mcg is equal to 1 mg. So 75mcg is .075mg. Micro grams are 10 to the -6 power and micro grams are 10 to the -3 power. So 1000 time difference. To convert from mcg to mg, move the decimal place three places to the left. So 10mcg = 0.010 mg. To convert from mg to mcg move the decimal place three places to the right. So 1mg = 1000mcg. Does that help?
