Re: new pain dr and meds?

Hi ken, Thank you for explaining. I had a pm dr, my first, for 2 years that my NS of 17 years referred me to so i could try epidural injections & try long acting pain meds. I mustve had over 40 ESI's because he would give me multiple injs (8-10) per procedure & continued norco 10 mg 1 or 2 every 6 hours & would never agree or suggest a long acting timed released narcotic. Then my NS admitted me to hospital to be re evaluated by NS, neurologist, gastro, internist, pain mgmt/anesthesia dr & physical medicine & rehab dr & the concensus after MRI, emgs, other tests was that i was not a surgical candidate again & to start fentanyl patch with the PM & R dr to be my pain dr. I remember that it made you very ill but there are alot of other long acting meds that may really help you. Maybe the ortho dr who referred you would talk to this new pm dr & find out his treatment plan for you & if theres some confusion as to why you were referred originally? Surely hope that everything works out so that you will have a great pain dr that manages your care & your pain.
