Question Chiropractic and new symptoms! freaking out!

hello everyone.. I am back and looking for some support or if anyone has felt this before and any advise will be helpful.

Basically I was getting over all my anxiety symptoms and 'riding' them out and I had all the aches figured out (or so I thought). Early this year the left side of my face started feeling tight and contracted (new feeling to me!!).. it's a weird feeling.. So I have done everything to 'release' tension or relax muscles... etc.. but it just doesn't go away (everyday) - it might lessen yet still remains. Doctor just told me it's muscle related.. back/neck muscle pinching on a nerve.. blah blah blah and all the stuff to get us out of their offices.

So.. I went to a chiropractor convinced this was the solution for me. She took all the xrays and to my surprise she told me to go and see a specialist 'right away' to check on my neck... yep, hearing that defiently did it for me... after years of no panic attack it all flared up... but with new symptoms.

To make the story short. I went to the specialist several times for more exams and blood work.. etc.. everytime regretting more and more having to do different exams. At the end, very briefly the specialist told me nothing wrong with my bones (bone scan) .. nothing wrong with the head... (sinus) and I was good to go ahead with chiropractic treatment if I wanted to. Oh yeah.. I had a protein slightly elevated, so just to check up on it in a few months 'when I am more calm'..

"..to relax, a 'normal person' would have been stress-out if he was told to do tests to rule out anything, you have to let go..".. so I was told.
well the damage was done... I was left with senses all lit up.

Now I am confused as to the things I feel... are they part of the anxiety symptoms? or are they part of what you are supposed to feel when going to the chiropractor 3 times a week? I asked the chiropractor if feeling my neck cracking all the time is normal? my left side of head/face keeps on being tight and now my left ear feels constantly congested! I have to keep on popping it holding my nose. My whole left side feels week and tingly and my arms and legs go numb and cold while doing yoga..

Anyone felt these things while while on chiropractic-treatment? or during yoga?

oh yeah... chiro says ''it's all different with patients, you might feel different things''... geez I hate it when they give you the run-around and no clear answers.

The chiro only made my symptoms worse, I prefer Physical Therapy to chiro anyday.
Have you looked into symptoms of TMJ. If you live with stress, TMJ is common for all of us with stress. It can affect your neck, shoulders, face, ears etc. Do you notice if you clench your teeth a lot? Or if you grind your teeth? Check out the TMJ board here, you'll get lots of help there. TMJ has caused me, numbness in my face, lips, ear soreness, fevers, swollen glands, lump feeling in throat, headaches, eye problems etc.. Good luck, let me know what you find & if you think it may be TMJ.

wow... so it's possible to feel worse after an adjustment? I thought chiropractic adjustments made ppl feel much better.. (no wonder I've been freaking out)
I haven't considered having TMJ ... maybe that's what I have started doing since december 2003... I'll take a look into how to fix this... 'cause this feeling of tightness on my face 24/7 is freaking me out! thanx!
(by the way... TMJ will cause a lump feeling in the throat and make it 'click' when swollowing? .... do you get the numbness/tightness feeling in the face all day long?)

Re: Chiropractic and new symptoms! freaking out!

DragonHeart, my TMJ is pretty much under control, but when it was bad, yes I had the face tightness & the numbness all the time, plus headaches, jaw pain, swollen glands, lump in throat, ear pain, ringing in the ears etc. etc. Did you read up on symptoms of TMJ, they are endless!!

My experience the last two times I've had back problems is the chiro only made things worse, both times I ended up back in PT for my back. I'm currently back in PT for the third week now & feeling 80% better already.
