Question Taking Aleve for Panic Attacks

My aunt's dr told her to take two aleve when she feels a panic attack coming on and they will stop it. She swears it works. Has anyone heard this? I wonder what ingredient in aleve would help prevent panic attacks?

Aleve would help the muscle tightness, alleviate some of the physical ailments...but do not believe it would help a full blown panic attack Cassie

Aleve is naproxen sodium. In high dose it may actually cause anxiety. The placebo effect may be why she is getting relief from the anxiety. However, it could be that the panic attack is brought on by pain and that by relieving the pain the panic attack is eliminated.
I believe that if someone throws chicken bones and the patient gets better, keep throwing those chicken bones. If Aleve stops her panic attacks thatís great. The rest of us are still looking for relief.

aleve is listed in my book as an NSAID, mainly for pain relief. agree with luke that the placebo effect is often quite strong for anxiety and panic attacks, but I cant see how aleve would stop a panic attack

benzos, ie valium type meds are best for doing this
