Depressed about my children growing up

This is my first post here..... don't know where else to turn and hoping someone can relate.
Lately I've been experiencing an overwhelming sense of sadness/depression over my children growing up and overall life changes. I'm 40 and my kids are 12 and 14. Time seems to be going by so quickly and before I know it, my oldest will be on to college and possibly on their own. I often think about the times when my kids were young, needed us (my husband and I) more, and time seemed to go by slow in elementary school. I really enjoyed and miss those times. I've been crying pretty much every day, trying my best to hide it from everyone. I just cannot get my mind off the past and how they used to be little and how enjoyable it was. I just hope I didn't miss out on any opportunities to help them grow into responsible, functioning, society contributing adults. Is there anyone out there who can relate?

Well this is the part of life where we depart from our loved once. childhood is always lovable either our or our children's. Get prepared for enjoying days with grand children. Enjoy.

Mother Nature programs children to grow up and leave the nest - unfortunately, she forgot to program the parents! Your children are entering one of the most interesting and challenging stages of their lives, where you can see the people they will become. Enjoy them at this age too, don't let your nostalgia blind you to the very intense and enjoyable parenting that will be your new normal. Appreciate them for now as well as then. Sera
