    Parkinson or Essential Tremor?

I was diagnosed with Essential Tremor, I don't know if it could be Parkinson's, it's a very thin line that divides.

    They are not related.

    Re: Parkinson or Essential Tremor?

My wife has essential tremor, partly controlled by deep brain stimulation though it is a progressive affliction that might get worse.

The big difference between ET and Parkinson's is that ET is a motion disorder and one only has tremors when attempting to do something such as eating. She does have a head tremor that is very minor but noticeable. She turns off the DBS stimulator at bedtime because she doesn't have tremors during sleep as she isn't attempting to do something physical.

With Parkinson's, the person has tremors all the time.

That's why (or I think) the previous poster said that the two are not related. I stand to be corrected on anything I have said here.
