Unhappy Post-Polio Knee Replacement

I am a post-polio patient. I got polio at the age of two, now I am 54 years old. For the past two years I suffer from knee pain to the polio effected leg. I don't use any support while walking but it pains a lot. My leg is being bent towards the left. I have consulted a few doctors but they said it was a complicated one and suggested me not to have an operation for now. Is it advisable to have a knee replacement. If had what would be the success ratio? Also, are there anyone who has successfully had their post-polio knee replacement done?
