    Insomnia med(s)

Hi! I've had PTSD for years and have been having insomnia for the past 2 years. Anyone have a good med for this without, hopefully, any bad side effects? I also have acid reflux and a very sensitive stomach so I'm leery of most meds, but getting desperate now. TIA

I'm prescribed valium 5mg, they work well for me. I prefer it over prescription sleep meds, bc they don't knock you out cold or leave you drowsy the next day. I've tried melatonin, Benadryl and other over the counter sleep aids... to no avail. I really hope that you find something that works well for you! Tossing & turning is the pits (especially with ptsd). There's nothing better than being able to get a good nights rest. Best wishes. <3

Thanks so much for the info, Muddster. My drs. won't give me Valium and I'm weaning off of Ativan. Going to talk with my GP on the 27th and tell her about the insomnia to see if she has other ideas. I've also tried Melatonin and a few other OTC sleep aids, but they don't work either. I'm not giving up yet. I hope you can start sleeping better too. <3
