I don't know of anything to tell you- except we had an upseting 1st ultrasound too and now we feel like everything's going to be fine. Don't jump to conclusions and don't worry about the unknown. I KNOW that's easier said than done...but worrying cannot help or change things. I'll pray for the best for you!

    Hi,

If you want to be really sure about what is going on, you could ask for an amnio. A lot of the first ultrasound show things that don't necessarily end up being problems. Hang in there.

i think that if your doctor was really worried, they wouldnt make the us for the 30th... they would have done it the next day or the day you were there... not make it for a few weeks out.

    Re: worried,ultrasound shows soft markers

At my 18 week ultrasound they found that the kidney was dilated. I went for a level II u/s at 24 weeks which showed the spot on the heart. I was told that I have a 1 in 97 chance that my baby will have down syndrome. I was terrified and didn't know what to think. They offered me an amnio and I declined, no matter what I was keeping my baby. They scheduled me for another level II u/s at 32 weeks. Both the kidney and spot on the heart had cleared up. Everything was normal and they didn't even mention the down syndrome. They told me I was having a healthy little baby. I hope this makes you feel a little better. I went through this on my own and tried not to worry so as not to harm the baby. You can have an amnio done, personally I wouldn't. Did you have the triple screen blood tests?? I didn't have those either. They also could not see the profile of my baby's nose so that affected my chances.

I am currently 27 weeks and my sons had the kidney dilation also, do you know what the sex of the baby is because the kidney dilation is a very common thing in boys? The specialist I have been seeing every 4 weeks has advised me that as long as the kidneys don't get any bigger than 10mm everything should be fine. I am sorry I do noy know much about the heart thing.
