confused about how many months I am

I am 20 weeks pregnant. How many months does that make me? I have read different things that say I am in my 5th month.

Re: confused about how many months I am

It depends.. What does your Dr go by? Mine goes by 9 months, but I know alot of others go by 10 months which is the actual 40 weeks of pregnancy.

Re: confused about how many months I am

i was told this way. At 20 weeks, you are 5 months pg, meaning you have completed 5 months. At this point, you are starting your 6th month (of 10).

Hope this helps.

Re: confused about how many months I am

The 4 week month is based on the lunar month - it take 4 weeks for the sliver of the new moon to become a full moon and back to a sliver. A 40 week pregnancy is 10 lunar months. At 20 weeks, you've completed 1/2 of your pregnancy - unless your baby is early or late.

The calendar month is longer and irregular, from 28 to 31 days, so is less precise and more confusing.

My doctor told me that most babies come within 5 days of their due dates.

Cheers! Barbara

Re: confused about how many months I am

I usually tell people (and myself) how many weeks I am. I work in a school so the kids are confused by that though so I tend to us the #of weeks I've actually been pg with them cause I don't want to get into the issue of the first two weeks after your lmp and conception. Weeks is truly easier and more percise anyway though.
