new beta results...should i be worried?

I had my first beta on 6/7 and it was 8300. Based on my O date (May 14), on 6/7 I was 5 weeks 3 days. I had my seccond beta 48 hours later on 6/9 (at 5 weeks 5 days) and it was only 12,500. I am nervous that it didn't double. My doctor didn't seem to concerned and told me it is rising "normally" for a "normal" pregnancy. I have read some sites that state that when you approach 6 weeks or when your number hits 6000, the levels take longer to this true?

I have not had any spotting and have had the usual mild cramping since week 4. My breasts are still tender, I am still bloated, and urinating often. The only concerning thing is that I was nauseous for three days last week (T, W, TH), but that went away. Does m/s come and go? Or should I be worried?

I will be 7 weeks tomorrow (Monday) and have an ultrasound on Thursday. I know I should be patient and wait it out, but I am SOOOO nervous as this is my first pregnancy!

Any advice???

I have also heard that the higher the numbers get, it can take as long as 72 hours for them to double, so I wouldn't worry!

Re: new beta results...should i be worried?

Kay, You sound exactly like me! I was worried about the same exact thing. My numbers were 6,150 and 10 whole days later they were 64,150 I thought they needed to double every two days so I should have been 160,000. I was worried until I started reading and it said after 6,000 it takes 3 days or even 4 to double . I wouldn't worry about it unless your doc calls you. The ultra sound will tell you everything you'll want to know. As far as the symptoms of pregnancy coming and going - thats totally normal too. I was worried about the same exact thing but as I worried my symptoms came back tenfold. The symptoms of pregnancy come and go. So there is no need to be worried. I'm 8 weeks and a first time mom, I never spent all my spare time on the internet or on chat boards like I do now. I worry about every little thing that happens. I'm trying to be less of a nervous mom and enjoy this pregnancy but its so hard not to worry. I wish you all the luck in the world when you go for your firs ultrasound. I have a feeling things will turn out great for you! Take good care ...Shannon
