How long for stitches to disolve? (Post Partum question)

Hi all,

My little boy will be three weeks old on Thursday. It was a fairly easy delivery although I had a very small tear and got 2 stitches. I thought they would have disolved by now but they haven't. They are actually still kind of uncomfortable.

For those of you who may have had stitches, do you know how long it took for them to disolve?

Jen, I'm 6wpp and in the past week or two I've not noticed the stitches at all. You're almost done with the discomfort of them and believe me I know what you mean!!! I had an episiotomy and I tore above as well. I thought they'd NEVER disolve but they do finally, just about when you think you can't take it anymore good luck

I went for a follow up appointment at 4 weeks PP. At that point my doctor said the stitches were still in but working their way out. I'm not exactly sure when they were gone but I know it wasn't long after that.

I think it's different for everyone. When I went for my six week check up, my stitches were still there. I think they were gone by 9-10 weeks, but I had lots of them. Most people told me they would dissolve by the 4th week.

Feel better!

Hi and congrats on your little one! I think my stitches had disolved about 6-8 weeks? I am not sure because I did not have much pain and I think they were up inside?
