24-hour urine protein test

I am 18w2ds preg with twins, my OB order me a 24-hour urine protein test next week. Do I really need to keep that jug of pee in the fridge?!

Re: 24-hour urine protein test

You can use a small styrofoam cooler and fill them with ice. This way you can keep it in the bathroom without going back and forth to the fridge. You need to buy lots of ice from the gas station to replace melting ice. The idea is to keep it cold.

If you share your fridge with other family member, nobody wants to see a jug of pee in there.

You also need a urine collecting hat to place on your toilet seat. You can ask for this from the lab or the clinic that gave you the jug. This will ensure accurate collection of urine compared to using a cup.
