Medicine For GD

Ok my doctor told me since my blood sugar levels were a little elevated over the weekend that she was going to put me on medicine. I picked it up at the pharmacy today but didnt start today i want to know is anyone else taking mouth medicine for gd along with prenatal vitamins. I guess im scared about taking both i never really had to take medicine before.

Re: Medicine For GD

your lucky you got offered oral medicine they didnt even give me a choice they just put me on insulin. if you type *****REMOVED***** in a search engine theres sites you can go to and see if the 2 medicines will interfere but im sure if they gave them both to you that they are safe to take together. i freak out everytime i take a new medicine. im always scared ill have a bad reaction and swell up like a puffer fish.

Re: Medicine For GD

I take four pills a day right now, including my prenatal. SG is right, if there were possible interactions they wouldn't give it to you but a quick call to your pharmacist will reassure you as well.

Re: Medicine For GD

I did get the reassurance i needed that it was safe to take the two together. I was instructed to take them at least 2 hours apart or more. I will follow this starting tonight and keep you guys updated.

sg- you are not the only one that was scared to take medicine. I never used birth control because i always heard of some type of side effect to it and got terrified. After talking to my current doctor, i called an old doctor i had and she also said it would be fine to take. And about you being on insulin i think it depends on the doctor, because it seems like we have sort of the same issue with GD.
