New with questions

Hi. I've been lurking for a while now reading posts and such. I finally decided to register today. Anyway, I have a few questions that I just can't seem to find answeres to. ANY help would be appreciated! Here goes:

1. My baby dropped almost 2 weeks ago. About how long do you usually have between the baby dropping and when you actually go into labor?
2. How can you tell if you are 'nesting' and how long does it usually go on for?
3. What are some definate signs of impending labor (if it's going to come within days)?

I ask the second question because I aven't been able to sleep for 2 nights now. Every time I go to bed, I wake up within 3 hours and all I can think about is what needs to be cleaned! I feel like I'm going nuts!

Once again, thanks for anything you can tell me.

Due any day.

Thinking about what needs to be cleaned? That is nesting! I don't know about the dropping's been almost 17 years since my last baby was born (and I am currently ttc)...but when the mucous plug starts coming out or spotting is a good sign you are getting close. Good luck! <IMG SRC="">

Re: New with questions

hi,If I remember correctly my first baby dropped about 4 weeks before he was due.I had early signs of labour 2 weeks before I was due, just mild aches and pains.I still went 2 weeks over my due date and I had to be induced.I can tell you I was so fed up at that point, but it was worth the wait.
I had the nesting instinct getting everything clean and trying to move furniture around, much to my partners disagreement.I was told to sit down and rest and not move heavy things around.
Good luck.
Hope everything goes well for you.

Re: New with questions

I felt the same as Wattagirl when I went into labor. I just couldn't get comfortable. I remember laying in bed watching Night Court and after about 1/2 hour of trying to get comfy, I got up (thinking I had to go to the bathroom) and my water broke. Prior to this, my dh and I cleaned our cars that day. I mean, I really cleaned! And then we had friends over to grill out and were totally exhausted so the midnight water breakage was a horrible time!!
Anyway, I never dropped, I never dialated beyond a 2-3cm and after 24 hrs of labor I had a c-section. You just never know!

Re: New with questions

Both babies never dropped, but I got an anxious feeling when the due date was nearing.I wish they wouldn't tell you about your date because you think it will happen soon and doesn't!LOL.Nesting for me with son was insane but with d was worst.I had to contantly mow the lawn because it was never clean enough looking.I even mowed on halloween day,the day before d was born.Oh yah,and I craved the smell of fabric softener. So I bought a whole bunch of downey and put it everywhere in the house so it smelled good!!LOLI know I sound nuts but I was during pg!!I would contantly go into babies room everyday to make sure it was in order.Obviously it was, when I would vaccum everyday in there and not go in!LOL

Re: New with questions

Thanks everyone! Sorry for not getting back sooner, but I've been out with the flu. There's a really bad one going around out here, and I feel like I did during my first trimester with the morning sickness.

I guess I've been nesting lately (have to clean everything), and the baby is due any time now.

Thanks again.

Due any day.
