Ok this is a dumb question....

I am in my 2nd pregnancy.(My 1st was while I was in the military and had a Dr. assigned to me.)I don't know how to find a doctor. I'm new to the area and just need to know if I have to go to a "normal" doctor and get sent to an ob/gyn, or do I just go ahead and go to an ob/gyn?? I know I'm at least 2 months pregnant and don't want to wait any longer. We don't have insurance yet but I'm afraid of waiting too long. Any information would help immensly. I still can't believe I'm doing this-you see we haven't told anyone yet and I want to make sure "we're" okay before we do so. Thanks again!!

Since you dont have insurance here is what you can do. Call your local WIC office, you will find the number in your local phone book. They will be able to give you info in which you can use to find a doctor who can give you prenatal care and the costs will be decreased or none at all. I know in Utah the program is called Baby Your Baby. It is state run and helps with the costs of prenatal care and such. Or a local women's health clinic or Planned Parenthood can help you.

Yep she's right, just look in your phone book. I am on WIC and it's a great program so far, they help out a lot with whatever you need and they are really nice, well they are in Michigan... Good Luck and let us know

Also Medicaid will cover the costs for the baby
EDD ??? Aug-sept?
[This message has been edited by AngeliqueM (edited 02-04-2002).]

Re: Ok this is a dumb question....

I don't know much abot WIC b/c I can't get it b/c my hubby makes too much. But my stepmom was on Medicaid and she got to pick her doc. We both went to the same man...he is head of the ob/gyn department. Most major hospitals take Medicaid without having to go to the Health Department. Just ask around about docs to friends...tell them you need a pap smear done. Word of mouth is one of the best ways to find a good doc. Of course if you hate the doc you've chosen you can always switch. I switched at 3 months b/c I didn't share the smae views with my doc. Now I have a great male doc who I wouldn't give up for the world.

Smile, life doesn't last that long.
