Pregnancy and Eating Disorder!

I have found out I am two months pregnant and I have an ED. I am 16. I want to keep the baby but I don't know if it would be better to have an abortoin because even If I manage to carry the baby to term it could have complications. Anyone any advice because I'm quite scared and confused?

Re: Pregnancy and Eating Disorder!

Hi there! Sorry to hear about your eating disorder. Have you been to the doctor or are you following treatment for It? I think you really should be talking to a professional counsellor about your fears. Perhaps there is a centre you could go to where you could be properly advised. Remember, honey, the baby you are carrying is very important and should be your number 1 priority right now. Does your family know about your pregnancy and your fears? If not, please tell them as soon as possible or get in touch with your doctor. You need to find help .

I'll pray for you. Good luck. <IMG SRC="">

Hey Hunnie! I'm so sorry to here about your awful decision. I wish you the best of luck.
I have been bulimic for 5 years. My parents found out when I was younger and lived at home, but my father declined any treatment for me. Naturally I didn't get better! I found out I was pregnant when I was about 5 weeks along, and had the dr confirm it at 9 weeks. *surprise*surprise* So from 5 - 9 weeks I really tried to cut back to maybe once a day or once every other day,(still VERY unhealthy)and since then I have let my DF in on my icky past. He has been very supportive but stern about not throwing up EVER for the health of my child and myself. I also go to the dr. on feb 12, and will tell him so I can get a referrel to a counselor. You really cannot quit having an eating disorder by yourself...I have tried so hard! It is a very serious disease, and I hope you can get support from your family as well as professional help ASAP. Good luck. It's a hard fight, but do it for your baby.

Re: Pregnancy and Eating Disorder!

You need to do a search on fetal development and it will show you what your baby looks like right now. It has hands and feet, eyes, ears, nose and mouth, it has a working heart. It is a baby. I think people are mis informed about the baby in the womb and they think as long as they have an abortion in the first trimester then it is not a baby yet.

I hope I don't get censored for this, because it is just my opinion only. The decision is yours. But, I do think that there are other options. If your only concern is your eating disorder, then I think if you are up front with your doctor and let him know how serious it is then he can help.
