Lightbulb Does Prednisone affect your menstrual cycle?

I am expecting to get my period this week ( I am currently on Alesse Birth control so generally my periods have been fairly regular). I usually get it on the 2nd or 3rd day of the week, however it's the end of the 3rd day and I have still not gotten it. I am sexually active and although I am on the pill and I take it regularly and consistently, I cannot help but get a little scared. I have recently started taking Prednisone for an allergy flare-up although the dose is not very high. Could this have affected it at all? Am I just being paranoid?

I have been on prednisone many times for different things and it never seemed to bothe my cycles. Of course, every womans body is different and may have reactions while other's won't. I do not think you are being paranoid. There is nothing wrong about being concerned with something as life altering as a possible pregnancy. I would wait a few days and see if your period does show up... sometimes worrying can make it late, which is normal. If you are still in doubt you can always call a pharmacy and ask a pharmacist if prednisone and Alesse have adverse reactions to one another or can cause such symptoms as you've described. However, I would just wait it out a few more days and see if your period comes. I know it's tough to wait, but if you are as consistent with the pill as you say you are then you should be fine.

    Good luck!
