Post Birth Control

I am 31 weeks along, and my husband and I are beginning to look into what type of birth control we should use after the birth. We are both young; I am 21 and he is 22, and we CERTAINLY do not want to have back to back pregnancy's, considering we are both in the NAVY and newlyweds. Can anyone tell me what kind of birth control they used that was most effective??? I don't want anything that is going to severely change my moods, body, etc. Thanks!

I got an IUD (interuterine device) it is something they insert and it can stay in for 5 years. I went with that because it is very effective, i do not have to remember to take a pill, there are little to no side effects with this (i have none) and your period will most likely slow down or stop while you are on it (mine has stopped). When it is inserted you might have a little discomfort so you might want to take some advil or tylenol before you go in but after about and hour or two after you leave the office you forget you even have it. Also when you want to have more children you just make an appointment and you can begin trying to conceive your next cycle. Most women who have been on it have no problems trying to conceive. I hope this helped a little.

Hi love the birth control pill!!
You can't take it while your breast feeding because it will dry you up, but if your not gonna breast feed it would be ok.
I love the pill!
Almost no side effects, cheap, very effective and has its benefits.
If you never took the pill, the golden rule is take it everyday @ the same time. I take it at bedtime. If you miss more than 2 or 3 days you fall into high risk of getting pregnant, but thats the only major downfall.
I like that I can predict my period & Its been said now that you can continue onto the next pill pack, skipping your period. I like that. Comes in handy when your going on vacation.
I've been on it for over 10yrs(until I got pregnant) & I'm gonna continue until my Dr says otherwise.
Ask your Dr. You might hear something that you think sounds easier or more convienent for you. Most drug companies have online info now, do a search to check out whats available.
Good luck & congrats.

The patch is really easy. It works just like the pill but instead of having to take something orally you stick it on you. With the pill I got soooooooo many yeast infections, we started to wonder why I was even taken birth control since we never could have sex. The infections would last sooooooo long. The patch is very safe, and it works really well.I have not had ANY side effects from taking the patch. It is also very convient. You stick a patch on for the whole week and on Sunday you change. The 4th week you don't wear anything (AF). I swam with it, and took showers with it I never had a problem with it falling off.

I agree with josecori, the pill is the way to go. I was on 7 years before I had my son Evan. Then again until I got PG with this baby. In fact I am having my D/H get snipped so I can stay on the pill to keep my cycle regular and lite! Hope this helps.
