Post 1st sonogram today

Hi ladies!
I am now 6 weeks and 5 days, and I go for my first sonogram today to see if it is twins. I was just wondering if someone could tell me what to expect. Thanks in advance!

the dr. will have you lay down like for a pap and insert a med sized plastic camera inside of your vagina. You must relax like for a pap and then you can look over and see it on the screen. My explanation doesnt sound so good, maybe some one can explain a little better. How exciting!

You described it perfectly friendlyrobyn. Not very glamorous but thats the facts.

You should be able to see the heartbeat (I think). You won't be able to hear it yet though. Your baby will look like a little blob or peanut with a heatbeat. If you are having twins you will have 2 blobs.

Let us know as soon as you get back.

The ladies here explained it perfectly! That's exactly what they'll do and it's amazing to see your little one on the screen.

Let us know how it goes.

Good explanation ladies: This only thing I might add, if it isn't too late, is that the look of that camera is deceiving. It is quite large and long. Don't worry, it doesn't have to go in very far. I remember looking at it and thinking, are you crazy!? But it is just fine. It certainly doesn't hurt. Just don't panic when you see it. It doesn't go in all the way! Ha.

I have learned that I can keep going long after I can't.
