Question Maternal instict?

I'm 19 yrs old, I'm not a mommy but I do have a questions for you experienced mommies. Do you believe in the maternal instinct? I'll use an example... my mom and I are extremely close. I've been going through what I would call an emotional crisis and I've had a test done for this crisis and everything is fine yet, I can't let the problem go. My mom tells me that I'm fine and she KNOWS that I'm fine. She says "it's a mom thing" and that mothers just know when something is wrong with their child, kind of like a maternal instinct I suppose. Would you experienced moms agree?

Well, I think sometimes moms can be in denial about a problem just like anybody else and not want to see it. Also, moms have been known to say things to their children to make them feel better. I'm not saying your mom is wrong, but even though I'm a mom to three I guess I don't really believe in an instinct like that.

I do beleive in maternal instinct. I also believe that some have a stronger one that others or listen to it better sometimes.
With me my first kick of it was with my oldest son. I knew he was sick with an ear infection and stomach virus but since he didnt have a temp the dr kept telling us he was fine. Well finally I get fed up and switched drs. The new dr saw him even though he didnt have a fever and low and behold he was sick like I had been feeling he was.
With both my sons I have had several feelings when they were hurt or sick.
So your mom could very easily bet right and know that you are ok.
