    facial swelling-fluid retention-edema?-please read

Last February I woke up and my eyes were severly puffy & swollen shut. Under my eyes were bags of white fluid- + cheeks-neck-lips, all swollen with fluid.
I have seen specialists from endocrinology to allergists. No doctors can find anything "wrong" with me.
ANYTIME I sleep or lay down my face and eyes puff up horribly. I have also gained about 20 lbs weight-or fluid. I was put on diuretics and they helped for a while and no longer help.
Has ANYONE heard of this or know what it is. I dont know what to do.

    Thank you for reading this.

One time I got 3-4 insect bites of which I'm seriously allergic to. They did not put me on a high dose of prednisone and the symptoms were facial swelling edema (which was very painful); The swelling was up into my scalp and down to my chin. What really helped me finally was Sudafed 12 hr release plus allegra and prednisone. But when I took the Sudafed 12 hr for the first time (I actually had to call an allergist from NJ for advice) I heard popping sounds and clicking sounds due to the draining of the fluids from under my skin and in my sinuses. I took Sudafed 12 hr for a month or so and got relief from the swelling. Most doctors seldom recommend Sudafed and they should.

    A few questions:

Is the edema only from the neck up? Once you are upright, does the edema subside during the day back to "normal?"

How about legs, knees, ankles, feet, abdomen?

    Do you take any medications?

And do you have any other concurrent health issues?

I presume ..(although (bite my tongue), I never assume anything these days with some physicians!) your doctors have run all the necessary tests for thyroid problems and particularly kidney and heart disorders? If so, what tests?

    Thank you,
The swelling goes down in my face & neck after standing up through the day, but not entirely--and not in my abdomen though. There is no swelling in my feet or ankles.
I have had so many blood/allergy/MRI/CT tests done (kidney-liver-heart-lungs)-thats why i'm scared.

I take thyroid meds(for 4 yrs). Only thing docs have mentioned is Idiopathic edema-and they stop there.

    Thank you for your thoughts.
