| Decision on Pulsed Radio Frequency
Good morning to all,
Just want you to know the final decision has been made as to if I will have Pulsed Radio Frequency (PRF). Thanks to lots of research and help from my PMD and LeftyKid here on the board I have decided to have the proceedure. I will have it done next Wed 21 April 04 at a surgical center about 60 miles from here.
Some may consider this risky or contraversial.....but I am convinced it is the right thing for me at this time. I am in the later stages of my earthy experience (older) hahahaha, and would like to have a reduction in pain levels in order to enoy more of life......and make life more enjoyable for my family also.
No treatment or proceedure works for everyone and each one must make their own decisions, which can be very difficult indeed, but my hubby Joe and I feel this is right for me at this time. Thanks for any and all input. It has been helpful.
Whishing for less pain filled days for all.
A friend,
Granny B |

Hi Granny B,
I really support your decision as you know what is best for you - even if there are unknowns. I think that the Pulsed RF sounds like something that could be good for a lot of people living with RSD. I wish you lots of success and I hope that you will come back to the boards with incredibly good reports for us!
Warm regards,
Julie

Hi Granny. If you feel that this is the right choice for you, then you have the right attitude to have it done for sure and that will help you all the more. I know it really is not easy to make decisions like you had to make regarding this procedure.
I'll say a prayer that your procedure goes well, and that it reduces your pain to the highest degree. Please keep us informed of your progress afterwards.
Sincerely,
Cathy

Thanks to you all for supporting me in this decision. I will keep you updated on how it goes and how much pain relief I recieve.
Life has dealt me with several health problems through the years and have been through many surgeries and proceedures. I have no worries or nervousnes about doing this, and my doctor is really good with the needles. hahahaha
Prayers are always welcome and appreciated.

Hi GrannyB
I hope everything goes well and it's successful! I am not familiar with Pulsed Radio Frequency, and couldn't find much online about it. Can you tell me more about this procedure?

Hi Gina, it is also known as Radio Frequency Ablation, Radio Frequency Block, and Radio Frequency Sympathectomy, and it is a method of performing a sympathectomy (cutting through sympathetic nerves) by burning the nerves with RF.

Hi grannyB....will be praying for you on the day of your procedure and trusting that all will go well. It was a stroke of luck that Lefty ( hi Lefty xx) was able to share her experience. That's what's so great about this group of friends everyone is always so willing to help.
Love,
Edna ( Mother of David) |

Hi to all,
Stange thing happened....I could not find this message....chalk it up to puter illiteracy........and had no idea so many had responded to me and wished me so much luck. I truly appreciciate all your good wished and prayers.
The PRF went very well, and I have had considerable pain relief.....I will give you more details when I am able to come back and post again. I developed a problem with the sacroiliac joint and have been in serious pain for 3 days.....had to get an injection into the joint and trying to get over all this. Will not know the final benefit of the RF until a couple of weeks from now.
Thank you so much for your concern and I will post more details when I am able to think more clearly.
A friend,
Granny B
