Question CRPS in remission and tattoos

    Ok.
So I have RSD/CRPS in my right foot from a really bad ankle sprain. I am very fortunate in that it was caught very early stage. I was treated with low dose gabapentin and PEPT and my CRPS went into remission within 6 months.
It has only been a few months since then and my daughter has turned 18 and wants to get matching tattoos. Since I have 5 others and love tattoos, this is kind of a big deal for me. I am terrified, though. So much is said about avoiding new injury for fear of ending remission.
My problem is that so much is known about CRPS that has progressed to stages 2 and 3 but so little is said about CRPS which is caught early... probably because it is rarely done. And I would really love to get this tattoo with my daughter but I certainly don't want to give up being in remission.
Do any of you know if it's safe to do?

    Thanks,
    Holly

That's a good question! I have been wanting to get some tat work done & have wondered the same thing except I'm not in remission. I would like to know if anyone has had an issue with RSD attacking b/c of a tattoo.

Hi holly, Its wonderful to hear that you are in remission from such a painful condition as CRPS. I have seen posts from other crps patients here that were told by their dr that tattooing may spread the condition to a different area or worsen present condition because it is a wound/ injury & these threads about crps & tattoos may be found by using the search feature located at the bottom of your thread. Im in a similar pain condition called adhesive arachnoiditis & in remission from ulcerative colitis & if i were you i would have a heart to heart talk with my children because i think if they really understood they wouldnt want me to do anything that would possibly make me hurt more or be sick again & maybe there would be something else we could do like get matching necklaces or she could get a copy of one of your existing tattoos or another really great idea because at 18 they really have some good creative ones! I hope that everything continues to go well with your remission because it truly is like a miracle to hear!
