    RLS and Gluten intolerance?

Has anyone else checked onto if there is a connection between having RLS and an intolerance to gluten?
Allergies to gluten are inheritated, as I have read. And 2 of my children have gluten issues. The one son has said in the past that he gets the creepy crawlies on his legs when he tries to sleep. My father 2 siblings and I have RLS symptoms too.
Does anyone know if there has been any research done on it?
And who do you go to if you do have a suspected gluten problem?
I took my sons to an allergest and she couldnt help me other than to say they had a reaction to wheat but were not allergic to it in the sense that they would not die.

    Re: RLS and Gluten intolerance?

I have an intolerance to Gluten. I'm not sure about RLS and Gluten intolerance being linked in anyway.. but I wouldn't be surprised.

I was diagnosed by my regular phsyician, not a specialist. Based on symptoms I was describing and through blood work, a food allergy is what he determined. I had high levels of belliruben (not sure how to spell it. it has something to do with the liver.) There is also a procedure that can be done, a colonoscopy I believe. (again sorry for the spelling!) This well also show if there is a gluten intolerance.

I suggest doing a little research on Celiac Disease/gluten intolerance and see if your son is experiencing any of the listed symptoms.

From the research I've done, this allergy can be inherited, but doesn't always have to be in order to have. And symptoms are so varied between people and severity that it is difficult to diagnose.

Good luck to you and your son!
