I was given Mirapex about a year ago and I thought it was a miracle drug! I hadn't been able to sleep because of Restless Leg Syndrome, Mirapex stopped the RLS and I was sleeping like a baby. However, just recently the Mirapex hadn't been working, I think I had built up a tolerance to it, seems that I do that quite quickly with most meds, I have to switch around a lot. Anyway, my doctor just started me on Neurotin instead of the Mirapex. He started me at 300 mg a day (at bedtime) it didn't help, so we increased to 600 and that has helped. I usually take the first pill an hour or so before I go to bed, then try and sit still and watch some tv to unwind, then when I'm ready to go to bed, I take the 2nd pill along with some tylenol pm and I am sleeping like a baby again. Good Luck to you.

Both our daughters have tried Mirapex and one has tried Requip. For them they did not help. For Mirapex one had no help and no side effects. The other daughter took Prilosec inorder to keep her stomach from killing her. At higher doseage she got most of the things in the insert that says you are having an adverse reaction (hallucinations, chest pain, etc). The daughter that took Requip (not the one that had the bad experience with Mirapex) experienced no effect until midway in the ramping up of the dosage. At mid way she got more irritible and sensitive to everything (touch, noise). She stopped taking it when she was very close to seeing and counting non-existant bugs on the wall.
