    Treatment for rosacea?

I've been suffering for redness for a while now. I hate going to the doctors because all they tell me when I go is what I don't want to hear. I want to get treated for rosacea but I don't know what kind of treatments there are. I have some acne to go along with it but my cheeks are always red. My forehead is not red, only my cheeks. What kind of treatments are there for this? How can I get help? Thanks.

    Re: Treatment for rosacea?

I have redness from rosacea due to the facial flushing caused by a number of things - being in a hot room, drinking alcohol and eating spicy food are some of them. Nothing can cure the redness that is already there but avoiding the triggers can help to keep it from getting worse. For the acne try drinking 2 tsp. organic cider vinegar in a glass of water 3 times a day. Also apply to face daily.

I know that Doxicillian (SP?) is prescribed for Rosacea... something like 100 mg twice a day.

There is also topical prescription medication to apply directly to the affected area. The name is MetroGel.

You use them both at the same time.

Will that make the redness go away? If so, about how much does it go away?

Finacea is prescribed for rosacea. My doctor put me on it as of yesterday so I can't say how well it works just get. But it is obtainable by prescription only.

All the redness went away. Took a few weeks.

Hopefully, everyone would react this way to the treatment... but you never know until you try.

That's good news for me... thanks I'll talk to my doctor about that next time I see him.

Well I went to my doctor today and she wouldn't prescribe me metrogel

I called my dermatologist and have an appointment this Monday to see if he can prescribe me it.
