Crazy redness
I used to be very fair skinned. My face at one point just turned red. I got used to this. Last year I was diagnosed with colitis. I went on steroids and noticed that my face was not red. I've been off of them since June and my face is crazy red. It began with a v shaped area on my forehead. It is slightly itchy. It doesn't hurt, but if I scratch it it hurts. The itching is like a loose hair on the skin.
Now I have overall redness again, but it is darker in areas so it appears darker on nose, chin, and forehead and spreads across my cheeks. I have white around my eyes, down by my earlobes and in creases of my neck. It can travel down to a v on my neck and around my shoulders.
I also have a spot on my shoulder that has a bumpy sometimes itchy rash. I have an appointment in Jan with a derm. I had two drs tell me it was an allergy. I am tempted to disagree since I have not used new things at all. One had blamed it on ragweed which I am not allergic to. Also, I am sure both rashes would itch much more if it was an allergy. The rash on my shoulder responds quickly to steroid cream, but returns quickly once I stop using it. It recurred three times in about a month. I have had three kids with eczema and all of their rashes will respond and not return for quite a while.
I rarely wear makeup and my skin is sensitive so I am hesitant to try anything. I also already use Cetaphil for my face and All Free and Clear for laundry. Oh...and my face is not dry and is more combination tending towards oily.
Any thoughts on this?
