Working with Schizophrenia?

Hello. I have been living with Schizophrenia for 15 years. I have also been out of work and receiving disability benefits, for about 10 years. I have recently decided to look into trying a part time job, to help finance a move. I have been searching for an entry level job, with no college education required, that would be considered "low stress". After searching for a while, nothing really jumped out at me, as something I would be able to handle. I was just curious as to what others with Schizophrenia do for work. I would prefer something that limits contact with people (customers or co-workers) as much as possible, but any advice/opinions would be appreciated.

Re: Working with Schizophrenia?

I work as a night time janitor at a highschool I work til midnight and am by myself most of the time its very routine and low stress I carry a journal with me and log how I feel daily or more often depending on my symptoms I tend to get lost in my head and hear alot of things there and it's a Lil creepy sometimes but it works I just have to put headphones on and listen to music so I don't hear as much but I'm always looking over my shoulder or seeing something I just keep telling myself nothing is there I work with one other person who is cool so that's nice but like I said it's low stress it's stable and easy work and I get benefits even for mental health
