Severe scolosis - surgery

Hi, I'm Leah and I am 16. Around my 6th year of school, when I was about 12 or 13 years old, me and my family noted that I had a very large dis formality forming in my back. I had a very negative experience with doctors in the past, so I refused to visit a doctor to see what it was about. This past year, I realized that it was probably time to do something about it. In November I got a couple x-rays done and was told that I have severe scoliosis of two curves. The curve in the upper back is around 65o while the lower back is around 20o. My shoulders are even, but my right back and left him both protrude and balance each other out. I've been told I basically need surgery or the spine will eventually crush my lungs. The only thing is, there are a lot of risks with this surgery... and I still have a very bad fear of doctors. Can anyone give me their opinion from their personal experiences, or just in general? I am still young and I realize if I don't do something now it might be too late. My MRI is in march, and I am feel disgusting just thinking about what it going to happen
