I would think it has at least something to do with it. I'd ask for a HIDA Scan which tests for GB function. Below 35% and about 75% are considered grounds for removal.

Since you mentioned that drinking a lot of water stops the issue, have you considered that you are dehydrated generally and don't drink enough water? This can cause the muscle cramping you describe....
