Re: NWB for 10 weeks now - OATS

Thank you. I look like I have a chicken leg now - it is so funny. I don't know when I will be able to start PT or any real exercises. Even though I am not fond of this huge boot, at least it is...

Re: What frustrates you most about foot surgery?

I, too, get the strange shots of pain and weird sensations. Maybe it wouldn't be so scary if the pain was constant, but my foot will not hurt at all and then all of a sudden, bam - that burning,...

Re: NWB for 10 weeks now - OATS

I am not exactly sure what OATS is, but I had a bunionectomy on January 9th and then surgery again on February 25th to remove and replace the screw and repair a chip in the bone (I hit my foot about...

Re: What frustrates you most about foot surgery?

I definately think weather makes a difference. I have had metal anchors in my ankle for years and now a screw in the toes (same foot). Cold, rainy days seem to make my foot ache.

Re: What frustrates you most about foot surgery?

As someone else said, having people constantly ask you what happened gets old. You feel like they expect some glamour story involving some type of accident. Most of the time I just say I had...

Re: Bunion Surgery

If you have enough room to get around in your house with a wheelchair, that helps considerably. I didn't think about using one at home until after my second surgery, so for about five weeks I was...

Re: What frustrates you most about foot surgery?

Even though having the foot surgery has limited my mobility, I think I would prefer to have the foot problem versus a hand or arm problem. My son broke his hand Monday and now has an arm cast. His...

Re: What frustrates you most about foot surgery?

I don't so much mind asking for help because when I do, I know (and so does whoever I ask) that I have already tried to go at it myself but simply can't. It bothers me more for people (especially...

Re: Not healing well....very frightened

Sorry to hear about your foot. It is good that you switched doctors. It sounds like this one will be a good one for you. I know it is very depressing when you have a set back (I had to have...

Re: 2 weeks post-bunionectomy

Stepping out on my foot with only one crutch this morning was really scary. It may sound stupid to some people, but when you have been dependent on the crutches for almost three months, you really...

Re: 2 weeks post-bunionectomy

Congrats on your progress. I feel like I had a milestone moment today - I walked on one crutch bearing about half of my weight on my "bad" foot. I am four weeks out from the second surgery and have...

Re: Bunion surgery - excessive scar tissue/adhesions

I don't know if this is the same thing or not, but I had breast implants two years ago and after about a year I went back to my plastic surgeon because one of the scars was raised and irritated (my...

Re: anyone with delayed bone healing..post bunionectomy

My bone has had delayed healing. There is a possibility though that it is due to my own clumsiness. Three weeks after having bunion surgery, I hit the top of my foot (where the screw was) on the...

I bought my little stool at WalMart. I found it over in the paint section where the ladders are. It is a sturdy plastic - you have to snap the sides on when you first get it. It has been very...
