Re: Hives and Hashimoto's

I really hate to see anyone suffer longer than they have to- if you have autoimmune hives/swelling/itching- it is from your thyroid and nothing else. You either have the chronic urticaria antibody or...

Re: Hives and Hashimoto's

Maybe have your daughter's antibodies tested as well? I ran hyper for years until it just gave out and then went to hypo. Hyper and hypo are just the effects of the main problem of the thyroiditis....

Re: Hives and Hashimoto's

Just a thought- radioactive iodine only gets rid of some of the thyroid. The doctors will tell you that it destroys it all but that is not true and in some people, if a significant portion is left,...

Re: Hives and Hashimoto's

Please get your TPO antibodies and Graves (TSI and TBii) checked. Only when you resolve the thyroid issue, i.e. suppress the thyroid with synthroid, will the hives go away. Chronic Urticaria (hives)...

Re: Hives and Hashimoto's

Yes H2 blockers mess up everything else. Every drug has a counter action in the body to compensate for the change, in some people it can lead to a whole bunch of other problems. Find out the source...

Re: Hives and Hashimoto's

Forgot to add, another tip off that something is up with your thyroid, is waking up at 2 or 3 in the morning, and not being able to go back to sleep.

Re: Hives and Hashimoto's

There is a test done by an immunologist or allergist called a chronic urticaria antibody test. This test will tell you if it is an allergic response or autoimmune. If it is an autoimmune, it is...

Re: Hives and Hashimoto's

Lights 242- I understand starrygal09's post and follow all of that but my case was much more complex due to a partially dead thyroid tertiary autoimmune response. It is all thyroid and sometimes, in...

Re: Hives and Hashimoto's

Emory, I feel like I am jumping in here, so forgive me if I seem redundant- what is your antibody level (thyroid) and what is your free T4 and free T3? What is your TSH? The theory about the chronic...

Re: RAI after Thyroidectomy??

Thank you so much- I am going to try and proceed that route. Supposedly, people who have Hashimoto's with urticaria/acute angioedema have that because the defunct thyroid is kicking out a protein or...

Re: RAI after Thyroidectomy??

Here's the thinking behind the suggestion: if they cannot remove all of the thyroid (say if it is inflamed too much by the vocal nerve cords), the antibodies are still going to attack the remnant of...

RAI after Thyroidectomy??

Has anyone had this for Hashimoto's??? This is the suggestion from surgeon if they can't get all the thyroid out, and even if it is an easy thryoid to remove, some thyroid is still left in the body. ...

Re: Anyone being treated with synthroid with Hashimoto's, but normal tsh?

Have you tried antihistamines? They helped my puffiness go away. I am on synthroid, normal TSH.

Re: hashimoto's and uticaria

Is there any chance that my antibodies will continue to drop as the thyroid "calms down"? My endo said that after years of being inflamed it takes that a long time, if not as long, to get it to be...

Re: hashimoto's and uticaria

Hi elmhar,

The anaphylaxis is most certainly from an overabundance of histamine, directly from the antibodies reacting with each other- however, that is a "theory" and there is only one case study...

Re: hashimoto's and uticaria

elmhar-
as far as I have researched- the thyroid antibodies and the urticaria antibodies connect receptors and release histamine. My problem ( I am of aware of chemical sensitivities and am on 50 mg...

hashimoto's and uticaria

Trying to find out if anyone out there has Hashimoto's and Chronic Urticaria? This is chronic hives that last for longer than 6 weeks. Antibody level is 400-600. On synthroid, but euthyroid. I have...

Re: Is there a difference between Hashitoxicosis and Hashimotos?

Well, since I am a type I diabetic, I was first diagnosed as a type II back when I was 25. At that time, I had elevated antibodies indicating Hashimoto's but they went back down, and it was elevated...

Re: Is there a difference between Hashitoxicosis and Hashimotos?

I just can't believe that there are so many doctors not paying attention to symptoms, just numbers. I am afraid that it's going to end up with surgery. I get emails from people saying just go ahead...

Re: Is there a difference between Hashitoxicosis and Hashimotos?

I have Hashimoto's but not Graves. I have something else affiliated called chronic urticaria. You sound like you know a lot about the thyroid so here is my situation, maybe you can put your two cents...

Re: New to forum- diagnosed Hashimoto's

Best way to get rid of swelling is to get thyroid suppressed if you have Hashimotos. I am euthyroid and on meds- I see a HUGE improvement in lack of swelling, although I still have hives and some...

Re: New to forum- diagnosed Hashimoto's

Swelling can be typical in Hashimoto patients- be thankful that you don't have Chronic Urticaria!! I have swelling, severe hives and have been to the ER twice before diagnosed.

The swelling...
