Smile Some hope

I'm 32 and recently married. I finally convinced my husband to try for a baby. I stopped taking my bc pills in December 09. I had a really short cycle and then nothing. I went to my doctor after 6 months of no period and had a blood test done to check my hormone levels. When the results came back I was devestated. My FSH was over 110. My doctor told me, without question, that I was infertile. She said that I was in premature menopause and that, if I was very lucky I might randomly have a period, but not to count on it, and that was it! Nothing else, no other suggestions, just sorry...your done!

I couldn't believe it! No one in my family has ever had POF or been diagnosed with premature menopause. I also went to an OBGYN who did an ultrasound and told me the same things. It was so frustrating to have two "Dr.s" tell me that there was no hope. With no suggestions, no 'retest in 6 months' or anything.

So I went to a naturopath. She was much more helpful, and hopeful. She said that what she was looking at was a hormone imbalance, not any "failure" on my part (or my body's.) I lowered my caffeine intake and waited.

Within 1 1/2 months I started my period again! Within two weeks of starting my period I started my period again. I assumed this was just my body getting back to normal. My husband and I tried again to conceive. I am now 5 weeks pregnant!!! 7 months after my Dr. told me I was infertile!

There was NOTHING wrong with me! I did not have POF or Premature Menopause. My body was just still trying to normalize after coming off of my bc pills. My first normal period and I got pregnant!

Don't stop until you decide your done trying, not your doctor.

Good luck!

Re: Some hope

Wow thats fantastic news. I'm a strong believer that the foods we eat have a major effect on our bodies and indeed our fertility. Lucky you mt3
