nerve damage

Was carrying heavy bags of groceries a few months ago, and when I sat down afterwards, within a couple minutes, my left shoulder just lost all its strength. I am still unable to lift arm.

About 11 years ago I was severely injured while lifting a heavy object. The pain was extreme in one spot in upper back. One vertebra was affected. At hospital they gave shots, and told me there was tear issues surrounding vertebra. It has been sensitive to the touch ever since. They also pointed out mild scoliosis in area of vertebra. I could barely walk for the next 8 months, the pain would come as spasms, completely debilitating, until one day it was completely gone.

I don't know if these two things are related. I'm hoping someone on this board might shed some insight. I can add that there is tingling, like crawling tingling on left side of neck and into my left shoulder, especially when I've been active in some way, or even sitting typing on computer.

I've had no pain at all in shoulder. Sometime when I'm straining to reach up, I think I may be straining other parts of shoulder, other than muscle. But nothing serious, nothing lasting. Just profound weakness.

I would appreciate any input that would lead to an understanding of what may be happening. This injury has stopped my work completely, so ability to go for treatment is out for now. I am in my early 60's. Thanks much!

Re: nerve damage

Hi, I have an uncle who has severe pain in his shoulder. He didn't lift anything heavy and this type of pain is unusual for him. I hope you you feel better soon.
