Red face I need any replacement for Proactiv solution????????

I have been using Proactiv for about 6 months and it's working well enough for my acne but I fear that It's getting really expensive for me now. I need to find a repalcement for a while, that is similar in content. I'm freaking out becasue I'm almost out of the supply I have and There's so many chioces out there, I don't know what to choose, all I know is that the Clean and Clear stuff messed up my skin bad so that's not an option. I know someone once posted about alternatives but I can't find the post. Can anyone please help me.

Proactive's main active ingredient (in the cleanser and repairing lotion) is benzoyl peroxide - 2.5%, I believe. The toner is a mixture of some botanicals and glycolic acid.

While it is difficult to prescribe products for another individual, I think that since you said the proactive works pretty well for you, you could try a somewhat similar routine.

First, I think you should try a cleanser with salicylic acid. Neutrogena's Oil Free Acne Wash (orange liquid, clear bottle) is pretty gentle.
    Cost: Approx. $4.

Second, you need a toner. I have looked at Dove's Essential Nutrients toner, and it contains similar ingredients to Proactive's. Many people seem to use it and like it. Plus, it doesn't contain alcohol.
    Cost: Approx. $4.

Finally, you need a benzoyl peroxide cream. If your skin can handle it, I'd recommend Clearasil Ultra. Use a small amount of it and spread it evenly all over your face. My skin never dries out from it. If yours does, try mixing it with an oil free moisturizer. (I keep my benzoyl peroxide in the fridge).
    Cost: Approx. $7.

Of course this is not the same as proactive, but it may even be better. Plus, it is certainly kinder to your wallet ($15 compared to $40ish). It isn't necessarily about a brand name you use, it is about the active ingredients the product contains.

Hope this helps, good luck to you!

The above suggestion sounds great but I just wanted to say that I've heard that Sav-on drugs stores have a product called pro-acne that is supposed to be like pro-active only cheaper

Yup, I've heard of the alternative Proactive products, too. I meant to mention them to you in my first post, glad others did! Personally, I have found the regimen I suggested to be quite economical and works well...it isn't all packaged together, so that is it's slight disadvantage.

Glad you got some help from us!

Yes, the Klear action is a good alternative to the Proactiv.
It sells for 20 dollars in Wallgreens.

    My routine that works is,
    Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash.
This is that orange gel with salicylic acid. Its a very good cleanser for acne. Leave it on your face for like a minute, then wash off.
Another good cleanser is the Neutrogena deep clean gentile scrub.

Dove essential nutrients Toner. It has Vitamin A, E, Green Tea, GrapeSeed and Zinc. Its a non alcohol toner and non comedogenic. Leave the toner on. Dont wash it off.

Neutrogena multi vitamin acne treatment. Its a lotion with lots of vitamins and salicylic acid. This lotion worked great on me. It totally cleared my acne and red spots. Yes I break out once in awhile, but the this is by far the best thing to clear my facial acne.

I just had to add to this thread.....I think one of the things that makes proactive work so well is the daily exfoliating.
