No, Tricor is a drug which is used to lower triglycerides. Statins, such as Lipitor, Zocor, Crestor, and Pravachol are used primarily to lower cholesterol.

They are both fibrates Kathy. I think Zetia is more for LDL and Tricor is mostly for the Trigs. and VLDL. Do a web search, just type in ...what is Zetia, then the same for Tricor and it gives U all the info.

    Good luck.....

Ezetimibe (ZetiaŽ) is an anti-hyperlipidemic medication. It acts by decreasing cholesterol absorption in the intestine. It is used together with statins to help lower cholesterol in patients who cannot be controlled on statins alone.

Tricor helps reduce types of fat in the blood. Tricor is especially good at lowering triglycerides and a form of cholesterol called very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL). High levels of these types of fat in the blood are associated with an increased chance of pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas that can result in severe stomach pain and even death.

    Hope this helps....

    AMAZING COINCIDENCE...
My partner's cousin just yesterday told me she wanted to get off statins and I asked which she was on. She said she had been taking TRICOR for 3 years.

I told her that she had no statin worries.
