The layering sounds good but I would use paper bags because they would keep the ice packs from getting directly on the pen boxes - I don't think plastic will work as good. You could also use a skinny piece of card like the kind that's on the back of a paper tablet.

I took off last weekend for one night and decided not to take the pen. I was about 12 hours late with my injection by the time I returned home. That was ok, but then I did another one 12 hours later this morning. No noticeable side effects. Has anyone done an injection within 12 hours of the other one?

Nope, but I have already forgotten a dose in my first month.

Can I go beyond the 28 days and take the forgotten dose on day 29?

As for you, Ms. Taape, I think you'll be fine.

Thanks for the paper bag suggestion, taape. Maybe I'll do both--crumpled-up plastic for "padding" and paper/cardboard for protection from the ice.

Bye, everyone. I'm going to miss you.

I hope I don't miss Chronie's first injection. If so, good luck!!

Here is an option for car travel (this unit has an AC plug for hotel rooms etc. and DC plug -for th car)

    BeBe Sounds refrigerator http://www.bebewing.com/cgi-bin/netstorez/netstorez.cgi?action=disp&pid=7400330005 46

It will keep items at 41 degrees no matter what the ambient temperature is.

I ordered one ...I'll keep this forum posted

    Re: Traveling with Forteo

I have used the medicooler for trips in the United States. It is available on sites that sell travel coolers for diabetics. The medicooler is designed for pen devices and the Forteo stays cool for about 10 hours. I am about to travel to Germany and that may not be long enough. I may try a thermos or the other suggestions I read for the longer trip.
