Question saline injections for spider veins?

hi, after i had my daughter, i have a patch of spider veins on the back of my leg (behond me knee) that i would love to get rid of. i also have a little patch on the side on my legs. i refuse to wear anything where they are exposed. my dermatologist recomnded saline injections. she would do the 3 sections i have for almost $300. she said that it would probably take 2 treatments. has anyone had this done before, and is it worth it. i don't want to spend all that money if they show back up. any experiences would be helpful, thanks

Vein procedure's are very tricky. I had both spider/vericose veins after pregnacy. I have had ALOT of work done on my legs. I had the saline injections for spider veins done many times............they did fade..........but never fully went away! The problem with any type of veins is.............they can come back in the future! Spider veins are considered "cosmetic" so you pay quite a bit of money for treatment. Vericose veins on the otherhand can be covered by insurance depending how bad they are!

There is Laser Surgery for them now, here is a description:

New technology in laser treatments can effectively treat spider veins in the legs. Laser surgery sends very strong bursts of light onto the vein. This can makes the vein slowly fade and disappear. Lasers are very direct and accurate. So the proper laser controlled by a skilled doctor will usually only damage the area being treated. Most skin types and colors can be safely treated with lasers.

Laser surgery is more appealing to some patients because it does not use needles or incisions. Still, when the laser hits the skin, the patient feels a heat sensation that can be quite painful. Cooling helps reduce the pain. Laser treatments last for 15 to 20 minutes. Depending on the severity of the veins, two to five treatments are generally needed to remove spider veins in the legs. Patients can return to normal activity right after treatment, just as with sclerotherapy. For spider veins larger than 3 mm, laser therapy is not very practical.

Did it and am very pleased with the results. Was rather inexpensive ($300'ish) and although a bit painful, the results have lasted 2+ years later. Mine, thus far, have not shown up again

I had the injections and was pretty happy. Mine haven't come back or expanded yet, but they told me that if you're prone to spider veins you'll probably get more down the road.

I had injections done 4 years ago on both legs. The cost was $250 for both legs (all spider veins were injected). I was (and still am) very pleased with the results. There is one patch on my upper leg that is still slightly visible, but it's so light that no one else notices (it used to look like a dark bruise, the size of a golf ball). No new spider veins have returned and I am completely satisifed with the procedure. I would do it again in a heart beat! It wasn't very painful either.

I am wanting this done also! I was wondering how long did it take to see results? I have quite a bit, and since I've been losing weight, I hope to wear shorts this summer, but with all these spider veins, I need help. If it takes a few sessions, would they be gone by summer? Thanks!

Re: saline injections for spider veins?

I had fine red and purple spider veins around my lower calf and ankle area, and i had the injections done in my dermatologist's office almost 4 years ago. I was instructed to bring along two bandage wraps (those stretchy skin-coloured ones, not sticky, i forget what they're called) to wrap up the treated areas for the first day. It's a painless, fast procedure and the results were almost instant. There was a bit of bruising (like when you get any needle) but it faded within a week, as did the veins! They have not returned so far. I would recommend it. Varicose veins, however, are a different story.
