Is Leukemia possible?

Hope you are all well. I haven't been feeling well for a few months and have been having really bad nightsweats, loss of appetite, can never put weight on and more often than not lose it. I was referred to see a hematologist a while back because i've got two enlarged lymph glands in my groin and under my armpits. I've been having blood test results done. I also have to see an ENT specialist because I keep having really bad nosebleeds and he told me that I have over the past times, my WBC has been a reoccurring problem. It keeps coming back low. Apparently, before my illness started my blood counts were always normal and well within the range. My Hematologist always keeps telling me to stay "open minded" but my ENT actually shown me the blood results and I also seen an abnormal MCH and he did briefly touch on this. My question is can Leukemia cause low white blood counts? And how can this be ruled out?

Yes Leukemia can cause low white cell counts. But, it may not show up on a regular CBC. If the doctor is concerned about Leukemia, there are more intensive tests that can be done. The other cause of low white cell counts and lumps is immune disorders, lupus, allergies, stress, and certain drugs such as Ibuprofen(advil) aspirin etc. will lower the counts. The most often thought about by medical providers is HIV, but that involves counting the CD4 cells and that is another process different from the routine CBC as well.
