    Weird obsessive thoughts?

I've been dealing with anxiety/panic pretty much since I was born, so you'd think I'd be used to it by now. In the past few days, however, I've been having obsessive thoughts that just won't seem to go away. What's awful about it is that it's not even something scary or even something that should bother anyone, it's silly and stupid but it's just been stuck in my head for so long that I can't think about it normally. Has anyone had a similar experience, and what did you do about it? Sometimes it helps to talk about the thought but sometimes it is so bizarre or even private and embarrassing, and oh, so stupid (!) that I don't even want to say anything. I just want to wait until my mind is rational again. Sometimes it just seems too long to wait. And then, the snowball happens. I realize I'm being weird and that in turn alarms me. What to do, what to do?
(note: I'm not talking about normal, tangible worries like doing badly on a test or finding a job... things like analyzing things you've done, wondering if you're "normal", etc.)
I've heard that this is an indicator of OCD, but I don't even think I'm really compulsive. I don't do things like worry about germs or check the doors for being locked twice an hour. Maybe it's just an overlapping symptom...?

I have OCD and I don't check things or worry about germs. I just obssesse over the same thing constantly. Usually it is a "bad" scary thought or something embarasing that I don't want to talk about to anyyone. I take luvox 300mg the max dose and it has helped me tremendously I can actually function. I aslo notice If I drink alot of caffiene or stay up real late the thoughts get worse. I hope this helps Good Luck, Brooke

Appologies for posting commercial web site.I can forget the rules are different when you post on 2/3 sites.

How some deal with these intrusive thoughts is to "just be" not try to analyze, forecast, judge, question, etc. You're actually trying to not think of anything - you're simply being present until any negative intrusive thoughts/feelings have a chance to pass by. The thoughts have no fuel that comes from your fear or the attention you give them. Once they have passed by think of something positive.

Its not easy but this may help
