    How are you now?

I am located in Evansville, Indiana. I am a somewhat healthy (I have had migraines and scoliosis for years), 35 year old female, teacher and mother of two.

I recently demanded an MRI due to a constant headache in the back, left side of my head, lack of sleep, forgetfulness and a weird sensation in my head that I canít explain. I have had sleep problems for years and have been on numerous medications for lack of sleep and seasonal depression.

According to my MRI, I have a 1cm pineal / arachnoid cyst in my pineal gland. I have read the research. My family doctor and neurologist say that it is no big deal. My neurologist said I need injections in my head and I need to go to a sleep study. She says that this will make my migraines and the rest ďhead throbbingĒ go away.

Iím trying to get into a specialist in Louisville, KY (John Joseph Guarnaschelli).

Due to what Iíve recently read, Iím a bit concerned. I realize that I was born with cyst, but I more recently have had symptoms. My doctors say that my problems are not related to the cyst. I would like to believe this!!! How do they know that they are not?

There are not many postings on an arachnoid cyst in the pineal gland. They say it is benign, but how do they know without a biopsy? I havenít read success stories for those who have had treatment or those who have waited. Are there any success stories? Iíve also read that after having one surgery, that the surgeries will continue.

    Please help!!!!

The Nuro thinks part of the problem is Migraines, but he says the symptoms above do not reflect the cyst. I'm not one to take a pill everyday so I checked with my herbalist. I advised her of the MRI results and she put me on four herbs to shrink the cyst. I have felt an improvement with the headaches and the numbness in my face. A lot of doctors don't agree with the herbs, but I'm not sure if they realize that medications are usually made from herbs. I suggest that any of you that are tired of the same thing and don't mind trying something different to try the herbs. What can it hurt? In five months I'll let you all know what the status is of my pineal cyst. Good luck and I really do feel for all of you. I've been struggling with my symptoms for over a year now. Fate directed me to the herbalist and I'm thankful for that. Take Care!
You never updated to tell us the progress. What did you find out?

    Re: Pineal Cyst ???/help Please!!!

    Hi,
I know how frustrating it can be, to feel like you are not getting the help you need. My 10 year old daughter had severe headaches for over a year and was always tired. Her headaches were located in the back of her skull. We thought it could be caused by the mold she was exposed to in her school. We went to many specialists and finally found a wonderful neurologist at Mary Bridge hospital in Tacoma Wa. We had an MRI done which showed a pineal cyst. The Neurologist said that we shouldn't worry as a lot of people have them. (We did go back a year later for another MRI to make sure it hadn't grown.) We went for a sleep study and found out she woke up over 400 times a night from sleep apnea. She also has restless legs. We then went to a specialist and he discovered that she had huge tonsills. We had those removed. About that same time the mold was removed from her school. She no longer has those debilitating wierd headaches, but she still needs a lot of rest. Her immune system also seems to be compromised. She catches everything. So, my advise would be to research your heart out and look at all areas of your past and present life. Could other things be effecting you? The only way I think that the pineal cyst could be affecting her now is her need for sleep. Good Luck and don't let it control your life.

I am wondering the same thing - I to have a 1.4 cm pineal cyst and alot of symptoms - after careful research, I have come to the conclusion that many people with the Pineal Cyst have the same symptoms I have - I too was going to a neurologist who blew me off as saying my symptoms are not due to my cyst/tumor - but after reading that all neurologists say the same thing - you are fine, no fluid flow is interupted due to your cyst so you don't have any problems from the cyst itself - I am now going to a Neurosurgeon at UCLA on the 21st of Sept. '07 - I will be speaking to him in depth of my issues and am going to get some serious answers - would be happy to relay anything that I find out if you are interested!! Good luck to you and me both as it is an awful awful feeling to feel this way all the time!!

    Re: Pineal Cyst ???/help Please!!!

HI!! I had a pineal gland cyst ( about 3cm) , I also live in Indiana and Dr. Gaurnaschelli was the first Doctor that I went to. I ended up having surgery to remove it March of this year, and its been a very long recovery. However I feel great and have not had any symptoms since my surgery!! I ended up have my surgery done in New York @ nyu . My cyst had done damage to my brain stem which was causing reflex problems and the gland had to also be removed. Most doctors don't want to do this surgery because of the risks, however sometimes these cysts do need to be removed. I have a lot of info. on these cysts if anyone needs it. Brittany

    Re: Pineal Cyst ???/help Please!!!

I just found out that i have a 4cm pineal cyst. I have had symptoms for years now but the county up north that I previously lived in was very bad for medical care. My NeuroBrain surgeon ordered another mri for tomorrow with Gad. and he as well has referred me to a endocrinologist as well as a opthomologist. He feels that we need to address this quite soon. I would appreciate any info that would help me research all this if anyone has any or if anyone has actually had surgery.
    Thanks

    Re: Pineal Cyst ???/help Please!!!

I just got the results back of my MRI. The RNP called and gave no information to me other than I need to have a follow up MRI with constrast in six months. I was so taken back I couldn't even ask her questions. I decided to call back and she told me there was no need to wory, but obviously I am. I asked what the size was and she told me 12mm. I don't know where to start. I have had severe migranes and some balance issues. I really don't even have a good understanding of what this is. Pleaseeee help!
