Numbness in Face, Head and Neck

I'm sure someone has already asked this, but I could'nt find it. I have absolutely no pain. No headaches or anything. But, I am numb from the base of my neck to the top of my head and around to my cheek. All on the left side. It started yesterday and hasn't gone away. It doesn't come and go, it's constant. I did'nt strain anything or get into an accident. Don't want to waste my money on a Doctor if it's something silly. What could it be ? Thanks for the help.

It is not silly. Since it's on one side and only one side, it could be more than a stroke. Sometimes I have numbness, but it's only temporary. When it's constant, go to the emergency room or doctor. It sounds like it is an emergency.

    Hoghillbilly,

It sounds alot like the symptoms of an Arnold Chairi Malformation.

I am the proud owner so to speak of this problem / diease. Does your ear or ears ring? from time to time?

I would go and have it checked out; mine was first caught when I told my family doctor about it. He had me have an EMG which checks for nerve damage and sometimes I am told that they can figure out if a person has had a light stroke, The neurologist I was refered to had an MRI of the brain and this is where they found out that they mid portion of the brain in the back of my head was on the left side .08 and the right side was .05
The numbness is on the left side and has all of the things that you describe. I very much agree that you need an expert or experts look into this.

It most defintely would NOT be a waste of your money here in order to have this evaluated as soon as possible.sudden onset numbnesscould be from any number of things.some would be considered very serious and some not so serious, but if it is indeed something rather life threatening, you DO need to know.

any number of things could have triggered this but it does appear that 'something" has affected a cranial or perhaps more than one cranial nerve.this could be from something going onwithin the brain or even the c spine area as some cranials do go down into the c spine and then loop back up into the head again.but at any rate.something 'different' than the norm has happened and needs immediate evaluation to find out the trigger of this event.if nothing else, just go to your local ER and tell them your symptoms and the sudden onset of them.they will take it from there, and most likely order an MRI.you really do need to find out whats going on before another strange or freaky symptom pops in to join the other.you just never know whats going on inside of any body area til you can peek inside.good luck and i hope this is nothing major.please keep us posted on what you find out.marcia

MRA of Carotid Arteries might be a good thing to do as well in case of carotid dissection or blockages.

Re: Numbness in Face, Head and Neck

Please guys, do the water therapy lot of problems will be solved within 2 weeks. all you need to do is just drink water in the morning before brushing, that way the acid formed in your mouth will be used as a cleanser to clean your system:

DRINK WATER ON AN EMPTY STOMACH

It is popular in Japan today to drink water immediately after waking up
    every morning.
Furthermore, scientific tests have proven a its value. We publish below
    a description
of use of water for our readers. For old and serious diseases as
    well as modern
illnesses the water treatment had been found successful by a
    Japanese Medical
Society as a 100% cure for the following diseases:

Headache, body ache, heart system, arthritis, f ast heart beat,
    epilepsy,
excess fatness, bronchitis asthma, TB, meningitis, kidney and urine
diseases, vomiting, gastritis, diarrhea, piles, diabetes,
    constipation, all
eye diseases, womb, cancer and menstrual disorders, ear nose and throat
    diseases.

    METHOD OF TREATMENT

    01. As you wake up in the morning before brushing teeth, drink 4 x 160ml
    glasses of water

    02. Brush and clean the mouth but do not eat or drink anything for 45
    minute

    03. After 45 minutes you may eat and drink as normal.

    04. After 15 minutes of breakfast, lunch and dinner do not eat or drink
    anything
    for 2 hours

    05. Those who are old or sick and are unable to drink 4 glasses of water
    at the
beginning may commence by taking little water and gradually
increase it to 4 glasses per day.

    06. The above method of treatment will cure diseases of the sick and
    others can
    enjoy a healthy life.

The following list gives the number of days of treatment required to
    cure/control/reduce
    main diseases:

    01. High Blood Pressure - 30 days
    02. Gastric - 10 days
    03. Diabetes - 30 days
    04. Constipation - 10 days
    05. Cancer - 180 days
    06. TB - 90 days
    07. Arthritis patients should follow the above treatment only for 3 days
in the 1st week, and from 2nd week onwards - daily.

    * This treatment method has no side effects, however at the commencement
    of treatment
you may have to urinate a few times.
    * It is better if we continue this and make this procedure as a routine
    work in our life.
    * Drink Water and Stay healthy and Active.

    * This makes sense...The Chinese and Japanese drink hot tea with their
    meals....not cold water.
Maybe it is time we adopt their drinking habit while eating!!!
Nothing to lose, everything to gain...
    * For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to
    you.
    * It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold
    water will solidify the oily
stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion.
Once this "sludge" reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster
than the solid food. It will line
the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to
cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or
    warm water after a meal.

    * A serious note about heart attacks: Women should know that not every
    heart attack symptom
is going to be the left arm hurting.
    * Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line.
    * You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart
    attack.
    * Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms.
    * 60% of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not
    wake up.
    * Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let's be careful and
    be aware. The more
we know, the better chance we could survive...
    * A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this mail sends it to
everyone they know, you can be
sure that we'll save at least one life.

Re: Numbness in Face, Head and Neck

Sorry to hear that about your lack of insurance. I guess this is a true incident where National Healthcare would be very useful. I hope we get healthcare for everyone... I am blessed with great healthcare but am compassionate towards those who are without it. Vote on 11/4 for healthcare!!! Good luck!
