    Chondromalcia Patella in DD

    Hi all,
My daughter has just been diagnosed (in UK) with chondromalcia patella. However it is not just her knee joints but elbows and wrists too. Her joints pop, crack and are painful when it happens.

Has anyone else out there experienced anything similar?

She has been advised to rest from sports for two weeks but apart from that nothing else. We have to return to the doctors to see how it is then.

Looking forward to hearing your comments.

Have they actually found damaged cartilage? If not, then she may benefit from very specific exercise and bodywork (massage) more than orthopedic treatments.

So far the doc just had a quick look at her knees. No scans or tests have been done yet. We go back in two weeks time to see if resting has helped.

This morning her hip gave an almighty crack and seemed to jump into place too.

Torn cart. only hurt me when it got trapped between the bones and that was a horrible pain..almost crippling. In one knee it made a crunching sound (prior to TKA)and it the other it makes a loud snapping noise.

    To thread starter:

I am being evaluated for snapping hip. My symptoms sounds a lot like your daughter's hip problem. You might want to learn more about it.

Thanks for that, it does seem similar to what DD is experiencing.

It is possible that by taking a short break from all exercises and just using ice and anti-inflammatories you can get the pain under control. Then, a very skilled physical therapist or personal trainer might be able to teach you a slightly different way of doing the exercises that doesn't exacerbate your pain. If it hurts while you are doing them or immediately after, it might not be exactly the right exercise for you.
