I'm thinking no. Maybe specific cancers such as leukaemia does, as that would show an abnormality on the blood cells. There are certain things that show in the blood which would alert a Doctor to go for further tests, but unless you are having symptoms and your blood showed some sort of abnormality, i dont think cancer does show up specifically.

cancer does not appear in a routine blood test.
worrybucket is right in saying that leukemia would show in a routine blood test.
as for other cancers the answer is no.
it surprises me to know that very many people still think that they cannot have cancer because they just had a blood test and the results were normal.
if only it were that simple.

    Right.
I did a routine 12 hour fast blood test a week BEFORE they discovered my Cancer.. and the blood test showed nothing about cancer at all.
Matter of fact it showed pretty much perfect health !!!!!!!

at least I started healthy per that kind of stuff in my cancer fight.

All the cancer treatments HARD on a persons system so I'm probably not so perfect now (treatment side effect anemic problem has raised an ugly head)

I did not know this. I was under the assumption, too, that if bloodwork was normal, all was ok. Thanks 4 the insight!!

    snowmelts,
the treatments you are doing are very harsh on one's system, what these drugs do is kill
all the bad cells along with killing the good, so obviously right now you are not feeling good. your blood cell counts will be very low so that will make your body feel very weak.
your white counts will be extremely low during treatment so you are prone to infections, be careful stay away from people who are sick, also know that your doctor will inject you with neupogen if necessary to bring those white cells up before each treatment.
it is a battle for you right now, just want to let you know when you're finished the treatments your counts will go back to normal and you'll start feeling yourself again.
it will take time, be patient but you will get to the point you were before you started treatments. best of luck to you, hang in there.
