Question Adrenal Fatigue - has anyone had high DHEA and then low DHEA

    Hi folks,

I have not been diagnosed yet with Addison's, but my endo doc will be testing me with the ACTH Stim test next week.

I have PCOS, hypothyroid being treated, and have had high levels of DHEA in my labs for years. My prior endo doc thought it was one of the symptoms of PCOS. I have had an MRI of my adrenals twice over 5 years to rule out any tumors on my adrenals and they came back negative.

However, recently, my DHEA numbers came back super low, to the point where my endocrine doc believes I have adrenal fatigue.

My question is this. Has anyone been diagnosed with adrenal fatigue or Addison's disease, that had high DHEA numbers for a long time, and then your DHEA did a 180 to the low end? The only thing I thought it could be related to is that my prior endocrin doc put me on 50 mg of spyrolactone (generic for aldactone), to help me with my symptoms of the elevated DHEA, loss of hair, and excessive hair growth on chin, lip etc. I asked both endocrin docs if the spyrolactone could be the reason why my DHEA dropped, and they both state that it helps with the adrogens and symptoms, but not affect the DHEA actual blood test level.

The other thing I have had fairly new is 3 sets of steroid injections in my spine to treat herniated discs in my neck and lower back. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

So my question to you is, if you have been diagnosed with either adrenal fatigue or Addison's disease, have you experienced at one point elevated levels of DHEA and then all of a sudden a drop to the the other low end extreem in DHEA? Would love to hear from you if you have or know someone that has.

Stress, yes, I have lots of it, and have had it for years. I am the only person working to support my house, and husband who is retired/disabled. And with the economy constantly turning around layoffs, I worry about that. People dropping like flies at my job. I have a plate full. Now I work out of my home, that helps, but between the pains in my neck and back, stress at work, and having health issues where I currently take 17 prescriptions per day, I am overwhelmed to say the least.

    Any ideas for me, please.
