    Bizarre attacks unexplained please help

I posted this in the anxiety forum recently since my doctor thinks this is anxiety related. I'm beginning to trust my gut feeling that this is not just anxiety and am wondering if anyone has any feed back, I'm not a hypochondriac, I like to think I'm quite a rational person.

My story starts nearly 5 months ago on the 27th of October 2010. I had been going through chronic depression when it all happened. But I had never really been an anxious person.

Anyway one night I started to develop this sensation in my head that was immaculate and I could feel something flowing through my body. It was like someone was grabbing my brain and squeezing it as hard as possible; it throbbed and it was the most bizarre, painful experience I had ever felt. But this feeling was so intense that it really started to make me flip out. I went to bed and told myself to settle down, and that it would end soon. I woke up feeling back to normal again, a little dazed but a lot better than the night before. I tossed the experience aside and toll myself it was all in my head.
At around the same time the next night, the same feeling hit me, only this time the intensity had multiplied. My heart started to beat extremely, and I mean EXTREMELY, fast. My brain felt like it wanted to pop out of its socket and all I wanted to do was get to get on the ground and start shaking. Now I really started to panic but with all my willpower I tried to calm myself. I remember looking in the mirror and seeing my eyes red, not reddish, but pretty much blood red as well as my pupils out of proportion; one tiny the other covering nearly my whole eyeball. Now believe me the pain I was experiencing was incredible, not a cut in your skin pain, a whole sensation in my body of it that throbbed inside my head to the point that my whole body was jolting. I could feel every blood vessel shoot all the way from my chest all the way up through my neck into my head and almost Ďburstí into an image if that makes sense? I was convinced I would die that night.
A good friend who was staying at my house rushed me to hospital.
My heart rate maxed at 172 BPM when they hooked me up to the ECG and stayed around that for another couple of hours before it started to gradually decrease and stay on average around the 100 mark which is still of course quite high for an 18 year old another couple of days after that. I canít seem to remember my blood pressure readings but of course I remember them being sky high. I told the hospital I had a couple of coffees and an energy drink that day and they think it was some hyper sensitive reaction to the caffeine.
My pain reduced but I was still getting waves of the same weird electrical/tingling, painful/throbbing sensation in my head that would come on and off for a few days after that. After I left hospital I was feeling better but still felt wacked out like I was on another planet; something did not feel right. I would continue to feel like this for another couple of months twice having to go to hospital again for feeling that funny and weird, much like from the first attack. My eyes would turn red and glassy, Iíd have this weird throbbing sensation in my head and I would start to shake and go pale. These attacks happened on and off randomly; it would come in waves, yet I still felt out of whack 24/7.
I went to see a cardiologist and he could find no signs of arrhythmia or problems. Iíve had lots of blood tests and they couldnít find anything.
These are the symptoms Iím experiencing right now 4 months down the track:
*Strange pressure/ Sensations in my head constantly
    *Strange malaise
*Tingling/Burning sensations in hands and feet
    *Chronic Fatigue/always tired
*ĒBrain FogĒ/drugged sensation feels like I'm sedated constantly
    *Acid Reflux
    *Diarrhea/Digestive problems
*Air bubble in upper chest(feels like somethings stuck in my throat)
    *Excessive burping
    *Insomnia
    *Muscle Soreness/Stiffness
*Throbbing sensation throughout body/particularly in hands and feet and a strong thudding in my head constantly
    *Heart Races/palpitations almost constantly
    *Migraines
    *Muscle twitching particuarly in eyelids
Now Iíve seen one of the best GPs in my state and he is convinced it is all anxiety caused. Iíve had all relevant tests under the sun which have all come back normal besides tachycardia. The question that sits in the back of my mind ALL the time is: am I suffering from a chronic illness, can anxiety REALLY cause this much physical symptoms and at this intensity? My life has been a living hell since this has happened but Iím not giving up. I am very determined to get back on track and live a normal life. The thing is before this happened I was a VERY calm person; depressive, but calm. Could this be the reason as to why this happened? Did my body cope for a certain amount of time and then just couldnít deal with it anymore? He thinks this was the same kind of thing: to cope with it and then not be able to take anymore. I'm beginning to doubt this however due to: the consistency of it, the intensity of it and how sporadic the waves are regardless of emotion. Doctors have good reason to believe anxiety to be a cause. But I'm beginning to think this really may be damage or something neurological, it has been 5 months now, and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere.
I'm running out of options and feel I'm not being taken seriously, ANY help or comments about anything would be extremely welcomed. Please help.

    Hello welch92,

Alot of your symptoms sound like mine except worse and not the brain squeezing thing. I was just told by a doctor that I have Arnold Chiari Malformation 1. It is where the bottom part of your brain is slipping down or herniating into where your spinal cord is. It is really involved for me to try to explain it to you so you need to look online. Make sure you only look under trusted websites. You need an MRI to diagnose it and not all drs recognize it unless it is really bad. That is my problem I am facing cause it is not a large chiari so drs give me a hard time. They dont think you should be having symptoms unless it is really large. Are your symptoms worse when you are laying down (and especially on your side) Do they start to get a little better as soon as you get up. That is what happens to me. Start doing some research. I have been trying to find out what is wrong with me for 5 years. Doctors have told me I dont have a chiari and the last one I seen said I did without me even prompting him. Hope this helps some and dont give up. YOU ARE NOT CRAZY and it is NOT Anexity

Hi, thanks for the reply. I just ****'d it and It's a possibility, but I don't really see any difference lying down or standing up, How did your symptoms kick in? Was it over a period of time?
Every time I see my doctor he says none of my symptoms have a pattern and that "I've had every test under the sun" (I've only had a CT brain scan and some blood tests). I haven't even seen a specialist yet. What do you all think I should do or what it might be?

Sounds a bit like cluster headaches (after excluding other things like stroke or tumour). They can come on like you have described. Hope you get it sorted out soon, Cheers, Sera

Mine came on after my mini van door broke and I repeatadly tried shutting it. It took pulling AND lifting of the door about 50 times (not kidding) to finally get it shut. I went to bed feeling great and woke up a couple of hours later and have never been the same since. I have always had alot of pressure in my head for years but all the neurological symptoms started after I (injured???) myself. I really feel you should see a neurologists. Keep us posted.

Hi, i have many of the same symptoms as you, each day feels like its getting harder to deal with and like im fighting a losing battle. I have had problems for about 2 years now and i know its not all anxiety related. Its the symptoms that has caused the anxiety. I went to doctor after doctor who hasn't taken me serious, now i have found a great doctor. I am now being referred to a neurologist and someone else to look into hormone problems. I think we all know our own body and if you feel there is somethng wrong you got to do what it takes to get help. It's so frustrating. I hope you feel better soon and get to the bottom of it.

Hi! A lot of similar symptoms. . . . even the squeezing. . . have to tell you I have been seeing an acupuncturist and kinesiologist. . . . got really tired of the medical doctor thing. . just pills and more pills. . . and then surgery. Nope, not for me. Please see if you can find these in your area. . . I am getting relief. My kinesiologist has been treating me for about 4 months now. . helping. he tells me it's like "peeling an onion". Yeah. Anyways, recently, I have been having some confusion. The latest happened at work where I wasn't sure where I was or what was going on. Fortunately, no one saw this. I just left work (it was the end of the shift anyways). lol. . . Hope he can tell me about this when I see him next Tuesday. PLEASE, please check this out before you do any surgery. Basically, I have read and heard that it in no way "helps" or "cures". . . . Take care
