    Question ms symptoms?

Left side of body went numb in 2010 followed by migraine.
Blinding aura with and without migraines
Dizziness and seeing stars or pings of light
Tripping over own feet or nothing at all
Loss of balance and feeling like I have No legs when walking at times
    Memory loss and confusion
    Blanking out
Eyes seem to cross and I see double
    Tingly feet and hands
Burning sensation in feet for an entire week I couldn't walk( June 2013)
jumpy limb movements like when your falling asleep. Now my whole body is doing that my head included, it will just kinda jerk side to side or chin to one shoulder
    Trouble gripping and dropping things
Cold tingly buzzing feeling in the middle of my back that extends out wards from much spine to my side
    Night sweats
Always feeling like I have to pee, even when I've gone

    Welcome.

As you have been having problems since at least 2010, what doctors have seen you? Have you seen an MS Specialist or a general neurologist? Have you been diagnosed with anything already and for which you might be taking medication? Other than the burning sensation in your feet which lasted a week, how long do your other symptoms usually last?

There are over 400 diseases and problems which can mimic MS. Some of these can be determines by simple blood tests. There is no specific test for MS. All possible mimicries are eliminated before a diagnosis of MS is reached. It is possible to have two different concerns at the same time which can have overlapping symptoms.

Thanks for sharing and I hope we can help you!

    Re: ms symptoms?

I haven't seen any doctors yet. I've been without insurance for awhile however just got a new policy and I'm searching for a doctor now. The left side numbness and burning feet are The only two things that haven't lasted. The tingling in feet and hands is constant...the jerky body movement have been going on since early 2013 and have gotten worse. I notice that comes and goes though every couple weeks. I'm not taking any meds and was diagnosed with EBV and CFS when I was a teenager.

    Re: ms symptoms?

    Ashley,

Thanks for sharing that information. EBV has been studied time and time again as a possible trigger mechanism for MS, but no conclusive evidence has been discovered. CFS can present like MS too. My cousin had CFS which was diagnosed when he was a teenager. It took about 10 years to rest, for him, but he is back to "normal".

Based on your previous problems, I would certainly encourage you to start with an MS Specialist. If you have a problem locating the doctor, check with your local MS Association or Society office because they should have a list of doctors who specialize in MS.

    Ashley,
Now that you have insurance, please go see a MS doctor. You can waste a ton of time with a regular Neuro, who will put you through a ton of tests, or you can see a MS Neuro Specialist, who will order the right tests and decide yes or no- and refer you elsewhere if necessary.
Its important you dont continue to ignore these symptoms , as most of them are manageable.
I hope you feel better soon.
    Nikki

    Re: ms symptoms?

Thank you both for your responses. I have an appointment to see an Ms specialist here in my are in 4 weeks. I was wondering about the jerky movements I've had, if y'all have heard of anything like that. Yesterday and today they have gotten worse. My right hand shakes back and forth and my pointer finger goes up and down like tapping. But the jerks in the "trunk" of my body are almost lime a very strong heaving motion and my head jerks to one side or the other or straight up kinda like I'm pointing my chin up and it vibrates. Also started having a twitchy thing in my left cheek like I'm trying to smile to one side and it vibrates and is very tingly. Could this be some kinda seizure or what...ever had anything like this yourselves?

    Re: ms symptoms?

    Ashley,

I get twitches and vibrations often. Most of mine are confined to my legs. It feels like a cell phone set to vibrate. I have also been through MS Seizures and when they happened, I was not cognizant of what was happening and would recover severely drained of energy. What you are describing does not sound like a seizure to me.

4 weeks! WOW that is super fast. I am happy you can see an MS Specialist so quickly. Please make sure that MS is their specialty and not one of many fields they cover. There are some who advertise MS, but they may also hang many other shingles on their door.

    Re: ms symptoms?

Sometimes jerky movements are caused by muscle spasms. Sometimes anxiety can cause something like this....there are plenty of tests which test the muscles, which are probably in your future, but will give you answers.

Four weeks is actually terrific and while you are waiting, I suggest you start keeping a symptom journal for yourself. No one will read it- it doesnt have to be pretty , but it should be simple so you can read to the doctor things like:
    When the symptoms begin..
If anything helps (sleep? Tylenol? Exercise? )
    How long they last...
What you were doing when you noticed them.

You also want to note any changes in your life...significant changes. You just joined a yoga class? You just lost a pet? You just started a new class in school which is overwhelming you? You had a fight with your significant other? Look for patterns....

Hang tough! Four weeks isnt that far away.
