Kind of..it's more of like a really tight, congested feeling when talking, my ears always pop & crackle. I don't think my ET is open enough 2 breath air into it lol..
having a bad nite 2nite. Can't breathe through one side of my nose at all, only barely through the other side. Got so frustrated earlier I almost started crying..though I think I have a cold(already second one this year!). There has 2 be something i'm missing here. It just doesn't add up..
I'm hoping I can get my immune system checked soon b/c i'm starting 2 think i'm immunocompromised & that I have other immune imbalances as well. Also I want 2 see if I qualify 4 ear tubes or sinus surgery..I can't take almost all the medication out there for this & still be suffering!
Sorry i'm not nearly as optimistic as I was earlier now. Just kind of frustrated.
I have been contemplating trying Atrovent for the nose(supposedly dries up everything) or Nasalcrom(stops the allergic process)..Atrovent is a prescription though so I don't know. I don't know if I should see an ENT(haven't yet) or an allergist(but I can't be tested anyway)..I've got asthma & skin allergies so this all just sucks..
But I feel weird going 2 the doctor for sinus/ear problems. It really affects my life everyday, I just feel like he's not gonna take me seroiusly. I wasn't like this until about a month ago when I saw a pulmonologist 4 my asthma who completely disregarded me & my problems, he told me nothing was wrong! So why are my lungs so sick all the time? I just feel bad now, like my problems aren't important. I don't know.
Sorry had 2 get some stuff out.

you need to find a good ent who can help you figure this all out, i am sure there has to be something out there that will work for you. have you had a c.t. of your sinuses? you may have a blockage or something. find a good ent and start with that, good luck!lib

    Hi TMJ Girl,

I've had very similar symptoms for maybe 2 1/2 years, possibly even worse. Come to find out I am very allergic to molds, molds such as: trichophyton, bermuda grass smut, Rhodotula, etc. Now I would have never thought I was allergic to anything but, allergy testing showed otherwise. I am seeing an allergist that uses different strengths of mold to treat people. I have tried everything imaginable with no results. Hope everything workout for you.

HI I am back to the board:
I do have mold allergies. Been tested with RAST and skin tests. All the molds especially aspergillus. The hives popped up so high on the skin test that I had to treat them with benedryl cream! Anytway, I wonder if this IS the source of the clogged ear symptoms I have suffered for one whole year of my life. I have tried all the stupid decongestants, the nasal steriods, etc and nothing works. I dont know what else to do, but I have autophony, I hear my own voice, heartbeat, breathing, sounds from inside my body, like my neck turning. Sounds like I am nuts, huh? But I am not I am completely sane. This Hell in my ears is driving me nuts. I am going to have an MRI of my jaw joint. To rule in or out TMJ. I saw a maxiofacial specialist last week and he said the joint is trashed. Whether or not that is the ear source, who knows. So then what do I do? Go the gammit of this guy with splints, braces, wisdom teeth extrations and then....................my ear is still clogged?? No one has given me a definate on this. Just "it may be the source". MAY??? That is nothing to hang my hat on. So on and on...........tomorrow is another day of this. Pathetic situation that we all have in our lives. Lib, I am back online. So I hope you are doing OK. Tata.

Lib: Have you ever had an MRI of the soft tissue? The CT wont show anything up in that area. I am still getting over a bad cold from last week and havent had the MRI of the TMJ. See, we are all about letters! Anyway, ask the nm dentist if you should have an MRI of the Jaw and the eustachian tubes?

I get echoes when I talk. Like a bucket is on my head. Dont know how else to explain it. Like underwater, a tin bucket. Ripples with a qtip, no.

I have been to numerous specialists, ENTs etc. Last Monday I went to a MD a friend of mine sent me to. After all the specialists said I had not fluid in my ears, this guy says there is fluid trapped in both ears. He said I have "glue ear" better knows as serum otitis. That means that the fluid had been there so long that it is now, glue! I am going crazy with this. I hear my own voice, heartbeat, breathing. I feel like I have a bucket on my head all the time. I am very depressed and have major anxiety with this. He prescribed aquatab D and nasal steriods. It is my second day and having worse symptoms because the membranes feel like they are dried out now worse. He said that is what he wants to happen and that it will allieviate soon. I pray for the day. I am having side effects from the medicine like worse vertigo and anxiety. I cant hardly hear and everyting is muffled now. This is unreal. Has anyone out there had this??? Please help me! I was told also that I have TMJ but I dont think that causes fluid in the eustachian tubes. Maybe it does, but now this is secondary to the TMJ. Helppppp

well...I have written an earlier response. From one other reply, I agree that I have some reverberation in my head...like I can't get my voice out of my head..very annoying when talking with others. I am using a steroid nasal spray (a refill) prescribed a while back from an ENT specialist..When I hold my nose and blow hard, my left ear "clicks", but in the right ear nothing happens...so I suspect with some sensation of fullness at times, I have some fluid that has built up...This "blowing" I was told is good to do often during the day. It has made a little difference, but doesn't last. anyone got anymore feedback? thanks in advance. kkkk

    Re: parched eustachian tubes...

Hi Lib: I am back. Sunset...........I have the same vertigo. I hate this most of all. I am being evaluated for TMJ and have started taking Allegra since yesterday. I have chronic mucous in the sinus and all I have to do is blow my nose or stand up from sleeping and the eustachain tube clogs up. I hear my own voice in my head, breathing, etc. and it is very depressing and no one has helped me. I am afraid of medication and it gives me lots of side effects. Nothing has worked for me. How long have you had this? Fluid was seen in my right ear a month ago, after I had been to five ENT's and they saw nothing. What a joke. Just an MD saw the fluid that I have felt for one whole year. I can hear it move!!! Idiots all of them........

They feel like they are stuck together. I hold my nose and blow and then everything just gets loud and stays loud. Nothing pops at all. Please help..........
I had a very similar problem starting in November ...it drove me CRAZY I went to one ENT for five different visits...it kept getting worse and all he could tell me was that it was nerve damage. i have never felt such frustration. I finally decided to get another opinion and saw another ENT. He looked in my ear said that he could believe that no one else had seen the problem. Turns out that I had a piece of dead skin attached to the ear drum, he pulled it off and the pressure and hearing came back in an instant. I have to tell you I just about cried right there on the spot. One never knows the frustration that comes with a hearing issue such as you have. I wish you luck! Brookdale Al

AL: I just cried reading your post. I am beside myself. I was supposed to have an MRI of jaw TMJ joint and my Personal Choice doesnt cover it. So I had to cancel it. Back to square one. I dont know why I have this. 5 ENT's nothing. Allegra doesnt work, sudafed doesnt work and makes my bp higher then it is, nothing works. I am on xanax right now. How bout that? Just stay high and maybe it will go away. I hate this. I dont know what to do. I wish I had a piece of skin stuck to my eardrum but I have had fluid witnessed and it wont go away. Thanks for interest. Demi
